Should I try to get to know this women better or should I just wait?

Listen I am very sensitive guy (HSP) and a few weeks ago I was talking to this girl and we went out on a date just one date and after that she became uninterested in me (she called me a nice guy which I have been called that a ton of times) for what reason and I haven't talk to since she told me in so many words. Anyway there is this new girl that works for me kind of and I find her attractive but I am so afraid to try to get to know here better because if my past rejections. I am a quiet guy that doesn't say much and she can be as well but we both had to speak yesterday because we were working on something together and she seems nice. We just ended up having a nice friendly conversation. It seems like women are attracted to me by my looks and all but once they get to know me they become uninterested. I am in a bit of a place where if I get hurt again right now, I might lose confidants in myself so I am thinking of not even trying at least right now until I am finish reading this book "The Highly Sensitive Person in Love." I read the first one The Highly Sensitive Person and I think I should just work on myself right now but I would love some advice on this. What are your thought and do your believe I should try to get to know her better or just leave it alone.
