Why do Hippie type, organic,environmental,self-suf… holistic medicine types vote 4 liberals like NOBAma?

What I just do not understand, that many of my fellow tree hugging, organic, holistic medicine and pure earth loving people are the same liberal minded democratic types who vote for socialism, GOVERNMENT controlled health care - the very politicians pushing NAIS, control of our food, commerical meat, dairy and other farms depleting the earth, who vote to Abort and murder the unborn children who will never get to see the beauty of a tree? Why is this? This is not self-suffienciency! Today I read a back issue of Mother Earth magazine, at the top of the page it read Become More Self Sufficent - 100 ways or something...and one of them was lobby for Government Health Care! Totally contradicts itself! This does not make sense to me, does anybody know why this is the case? Why do outdoorsy, liberal, environmental people vote for BIG GOVERNMENT that take away our rights, kill our food and limit our ability to heal ourselves? Force chemo on a child? Irradiate our food? Deplete our soils with pesticides, etc?
